PDF Drawing Comparison for Defense and Aerospace
Most PDF comparison tools upload your files to a cloud server. For defense, aerospace, and other controlled-environment work, that is not an option. DrawDiff performs the entire comparison inside your browser — nothing is ever transmitted.
Why Standard Comparison Tools Are a Problem
Tools like Draftable, Smallpdf, Adobe Acrobat web, and most online PDF services operate by uploading your documents to their servers for processing. For documents subject to export control regulations, proprietary design restrictions, or classification requirements, this creates unacceptable risk:
- ITAR-controlled technical data cannot be transmitted to foreign servers or unvetted cloud infrastructure
- Proprietary design drawings may be subject to NDA or trade secret protections
- Classified or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) has specific handling requirements
- Corporate IT policy may prohibit uploading engineering documents to third-party services
How DrawDiff Is Different
Files are read from your device by the browser's File API and never transmitted over any network connection
DrawDiff has no backend. The hosting is static file delivery only — no computation happens server-side
Once the page is loaded, disconnect from the network. DrawDiff continues to function fully for as long as the tab is open
No login, no registration, no identity collection. There is nothing to link a user to their activity
Suitable Use Cases
- Defense contractor drawing review — compare supplier drawings against government specifications or previous submissions
- Aerospace component drawings — verify revision changes on controlled manufacturing drawings
- Naval architecture and marine — compare classification society drawings or survey documents
- Nuclear and critical infrastructure — compare safety-significant drawings in environments with strict document controls
- Government contract deliverables — review changes in technical data packages (TDPs) and CDRLs
Air-Gapped and Restricted Network Environments
DrawDiff can be used on machines with restricted internet access. After the initial page load (which fetches the JavaScript and fonts from the CDN), the application runs entirely locally. For fully air-gapped environments, the HTML file can be saved locally and served from an internal server or file system — contact us if you need guidance on this approach.
What Data DrawDiff Does Collect
DrawDiff uses Google Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregate usage statistics — which pages are visited, which features are used, and approximate geographic region. No document content, filenames, or personally identifiable information is collected. GA uses cookies that can be blocked by standard enterprise browser policies. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
No upload. No account. No risk. Compare your drawings now.
